How can I get assistance to afford quality child care?

Mississippi offers child care assistance to eligible parents through the Mississippi Child Care Payment Program. Eligibility is based on income.

For the program overview, eligibility guidelines, and application, visit the Mississippi Department of Human Services website: MDHS Child Care Payment Program.

Two other options for low-income parents in Mississippi are the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Eligibility is based on income.  To learn more about Head Start in Mississippi, visit www.msheadstart.org. To locate a program in Mississippi, visit www.msheadstart.org/for-parents/

The Head Start program (for children ages 3-5) and Early Head Start program (for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers) promote school readiness for children in low-income families by providing comprehensive educational, health, nutritional, and social services. These programs are only located at specific sites across the state and have a limited enrollment.
