SPECIAL PROJECTS

The Non-Partisan Voting Project

The Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiative launched the Non-Partisan Voting Project to help register people to vote and educate them about their voting rights.

MLICCI is empowering Mississippi child care providers to help parents of their students and the staff at their child care centers to register themselves in time to cast their ballot on Nov. 3, 2020.

The Voting Project is non-partisan and supported by a team of interns from Tougaloo College and Jackson State University (pictured at right), as well as a support team from MLICCI, One Voice Mississippi, Black Voters Matter Fund and MS Rep. Zakiya Summers (68th District).

Below are training materials available for child care providers.

I volunteered to be part of the Non-Partisan Voting Project because I wanted to be effective in my community. I am around a lot of young people who could benefit from knowing the importance of voting.

Adrianne Jackson

I volunteered to be a part of the Non-Partisan Voting Project because I wanted to make a difference by helping increase voter registration and participation. Another reason I volunteered is because I saw it as a great opportunity to meet and work with new people.

Brandi Winters

I wanted to be a part of something that means a lot to me that’s why I Destiny Jackson picked the voting project.

Jaquaveon Payton

As we know, voting is extremely important. It gives citizens the opportunity to have their voice heard. I chose to be apart of this organization because I wanted to be apart of something that’s powerful, and to make a difference in life for today and the future.

Ke'Shundria Robertson

I chose to be part of the Non-Partisan Voting Project because I recognize how important it is to ensure that the work of those who have come before does not go in vain. Many fought simply to register, now is the time that we make it a point to go to the polls in every election and ensure that our voices are heard in our vote!

Marquise Hunt

One person pushing for change is just a complaint, but a group vying for change is a movement. I want to do all that I can so that we can keep moving forward, that mandates ensuring that everyone is able to vote for the change that they desire.

Trevian Strong

I chose to be part of the Non-Partisan Voting Project  because it is important that every citizen understand  why it is imperative to be a part of the process. Voting gives every citizen the opportunity to voice their opinion when it comes to the leaders around the world.
