“Dear Child Care Champion,
You are invited to a special event to celebrate the importance of child care in the lives of children and families on Friday, June 26, 2020 from 3 pm to 4 pm CT!
RSVP here.
The National Women’s Law Center and MomsRising are hosting a rally at home that will bring together families, child care providers, and other folks from across the country to share their stories, show support and appreciation for caregiving, and call for greater investment in this sector that means so much to our communities.
Across the country, child care programs are facing risk of permanent closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Child care workers, already paid low wages, have found themselves struggling to make ends meet and missing the children and families they love and care for every day.
For child care programs that continue to serve kids and families, workers and early educators provide care with few additional resources and supports. At the same time, families have to manage caregiving with work, school, and/or other responsibilities in new and challenging ways. As we look to the future, we know that our country can do more to ensure children and have families have access to high-quality child care, support the child care and early learning workforce, and advance equity.
This virtual event is family-friendly and will include entertainment by Baba Ras D and Grammy award-winning 1,2,3 Andrés. Special guests include June Diane Raphael & Chudney Ross (the Jane Club), Meena Harris (Author and CEO of Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign), Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Representative Rosa DeLauro, and Senators Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren.
We’re excited to come together and celebrate what child care means to all of us!”
