We are pleased and honored to announce that McKenzie Scott has made a $2 million donation to MLICCI in recognition of the organization’s 25 years of work on behalf of Mississippi’s low-income working single mom families. MLICCI has a long track record of advocating for improvements in Mississippi’s child care assistance program to make it easier for low-income parents to get the child care assistance they need in order to work, and for child care providers in the assistance program to be financially viable. In addition, MLICCI works directly with single moms to help them earn wages adequate to support their families while also receiving the child care they need through our Employment Equity for Single Moms program.
This track record is recognized by this generous and unsolicited donation. Given on the occasion of MLICCI’s 25thanniversary, this gift will help sustain MLICCI’s efforts to continue this work that is still so needed. MLICCI works to make sure that no mom should have to choose between the job she needs and the child she loves.
“We are so grateful to be chosen as a recipient of this gift from MacKenzie Scott,” said Carol Burnett, MLICCI Executive Director. “This generous donation demonstrates how important our work is to ensuring economic security for women and access to quality, affordable child care.”
