A free two-day conference designed to empower, transform and give a collective voice to women will be held at the Living Word Worship Center, 8 Covington Road in Natchez, MS on Sept. 30 – Oct. 1.
The Transforming the Inner Woman Conference and Empowerment Town Hall is a joint venture being sponsored by the Living Word Worship Center and the Mississippi Women’s Economic Security Initiative. Other collaborators include Natchez Alderwomen Ward 1 Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis and Ward 4 Felicia Bridgewater-Irving.
- Day One of the conference will be held from 7-9 p.m. and feature praise dancers, artistic expression, LWWC Divas, door prizes and a bookstore, along with the featured speaker, recording artist and Bible teacher Alicia Williamson Garcia.
- Day Two will include an Empowerment Town Hall where attendees can share thoughts on what women need to increase their access to affordable housing, better wages, affordable child care and health care.
The event is open to the public and will include free childcare and lunch.

The MS Women’s Economic Security Initiative (MWESI) is a project of the Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiative (MLICCI.) The Biloxi-based MLICCI launched the women’s advocacy program last year to build a policy agenda for women in Mississippi so they have a voice in the policy-making process.
MWESI will be hosting a series of Empowerment Town Halls in cities across the state this fall.
