Advocacy for Affordable Child Care in Mississippi
The Mississippi Low Income Child Care Initiative (MLICCI) is a statewide non-profit public policy advocacy organization working to improve women’s economic security in Mississippi by making child care affordable for low-income working moms, achieving gender and racial equity in the workforce and making the safety network for women.

Child Care Advocacy
The MLICCI Child Care Leadership Team (CCLT) strengthens and promotes improvement to Mississippi’s child care system serving low-income working families. The group is comprised of child care providers who draw from their expertise as users of CCPP to identify priority reforms.

MLICCI organized the Child Care Leadership Team (CCLT) to identify and advance the most critically needed reforms in Mississippi’s Child Care Payment Program (Mississippi's child care subsidy system). Low-income working single moms need affordable child care, and the providers who serve them struggle financially. Thus, through CCLT, we work with CCPP parents and providers to improve the subsidy program and make it work for families.
We have won many reforms, but we still have a lot of work to do to increase funding for CCPP, ease parents' efforts to get and keep CCPP, and strengthen the financial viability of CCPP providers, who often operate on razor-thin margins -- a viability only worsened in the COVID-19 pandemic.
To join our effort to strengthen Mississippi’s CCPP and make the system work better for families, we encourage child care providers to join MLICCI’s Child Care Leadership Team (CCLT).
